Steven McMillan


Violinist Steven McMillan received Bachelor of music and Master of music degrees from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music.

Currently he is Concertmaster of both the Victoria Symphony Orchestra and the Galveston Symphony Orchestra and is Associate Concertmaster of the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra.


Mr. McMillan was appointed Concertmaster and soloist of the Mantovani Orchestra for their 1991-92 world tour. He has also toured the country extensively as the Assistant Concertmaster for Andrew Lloyd-Weber’s Phantom of the Opera. Mr. McMillan has been fortunate to work with many of the world’s most renowned conductors including Leonard Bernstein, Max Rudolph, Raymond Leppard, Sir Alexander Gibson, Sergiu Comissiona, Krystof Penderecki, Cornelius Eberhardt and Charles Rosekrans.

Mr. McMillan maintains a busy schedule of private teaching and performing as a recitalist, chamber musician and orchestra soloist and is the inventor of the SureTone Rest; a unique shoulder rest for the violin or viola.
